Thanks to its favorable geographical location, Venice developed into one of the most
important trading metropolises in the Mediterranean from the 10th century onwards. The
city had consolidated its position between the Orient and the Occident and over time
developed into a bridge between East and West.
The Venice Biennial, founded in 1895 and the mother of ALL Biennials – is the equi-valent
of the OSCARS or Cannes film festival. It's the only major art exhibition in the world which
has national representations, so there is a sense that it is the OLYMPICS of the art world.
The group exhibition “VENICE_TRANSFORMED, CONNECTING PEOPLE THOUGH
ART_ARCHITECTURE” in the period of the 19th Architectural Biennial will be about many
disciplines that shape it; art and architecture is here at the centre.
